What the free trial includes
Use the trial to test real, permitted calls in your meeting apps and languages. Check the transcript and summary against what was said before relying on a decision or next step.
- 14 days with 5 meeting hours, no credit card
- Native Mac capture across Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams without a participant bot
- Transcripts, summaries, and questions about captured conversations
- No audio recording retained by Nod for playback; hosted transcription
What happens after the trial?
Continued paid use starts with Starter at $15 per month on monthly billing, or $12 per month billed annually ($144 per year). Starter includes 8 meeting hours per month. Compare all allowances on the pricing page.
If you need an ongoing free allowance, compare the free plans in our Mac note taker comparison. Check each provider's meeting limits, capture mode, and data policy rather than assuming all free tools work the same way.
Try it in your meeting app
Follow the setup for Google Meet without recording or Teams notes without a bot. Start with a short call and confirm both sides appear in the transcript.
How your data is handled
Capture is local on your Mac; transcription isn't. Each audio segment is sent through a European proxy to hosted transcription, and Nod discards it when the text returns. No model trains on the data. Groq may retain transient error or abuse logs for up to 30 days unless Zero Data Retention is enabled. Only the transcript and summary are saved by Nod, encrypted at rest in the EU (AWS eu-west-1). See the security page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Nod a permanently free AI note taker?
No. Nod offers a 14-day trial with 5 meeting hours and no credit card. Paid use afterward starts at $15 per month, or $12 per month billed annually ($144 per year). See pricing for current plans.
What should I check in a free AI note taker?
Check whether it is a trial or a recurring free allowance, the per-meeting and monthly limits, supported apps, bot visibility, and how audio and text are processed. A free plan does not by itself tell you the provider's data policy.
Is Nod's trial transcription fully on-device?
No. Capture runs on your Mac, but transcription and summarization use hosted inference. Nod creates no playback recording. See the security policy for processing locations and provider retention.
