Nod for coaches

Be present in the session. The notes can write themselves.

Coaching is one of the few jobs where taking notes actively damages the work — the moment you look down, the person in front of you notices. Nod captures the session from your Mac's own audio, with nothing joining the call, and keeps what was explored and committed to, so the next session opens where the last one ended instead of with "remind me where we got to".

14-day free trial, no card. macOS only.

  • What they committed to last session, and whether it happened
  • The theme that has come up in four sessions running
  • Your prep for the next session, in thirty seconds
  • What changed for this client over six months
  • For executive coaches

“What has this client committed to, and what came back?”

The pattern between what someone says they will do and what they do is the work. Keep both halves.

  • For career coaches

“What did we agree the next step was?”

Open the session already holding the last one, instead of spending ten minutes rebuilding it together.

  • For team and leadership coaches

“What keeps coming up across this team's sessions?”

Ask across the whole engagement and find the theme nobody has named out loud yet.

Ask it the way you'd say it.

  • What has this client committed to, and what came back?
  • What did we agree the next step was?
  • What keeps coming up across this team's sessions?
  • What has come up more than twice with this client?

A day with Nod

Four moments where the notes would otherwise be on you.

  1. 09:00Session prep

Open the last session in thirty seconds.

    • What was explored, and where it ended
    • What they committed to doing before today
    • The thread you agreed to come back to
  2. 10:00The session

    Both eyes on the person.

    • No notebook, no typing, no split attention
    • Nothing joins the call for them to see
    • Their words kept exactly, not summarised live
  3. 14:30A different client

    Each engagement stays its own.

    • Sessions kept per client, in their own folder
    • Ask one client's question without the others
    • Write-up done before the next session starts
  4. 17:00Ask Nod

    Twelve sessions, read together.

    • “What has come up more than twice?”
    • “What did they commit to and not return to?”
    • Answers with the session each came from

Engagement memory

The pattern only shows up over six months

Any single session is legible from your notes. The pattern across twelve of them — the commitment that keeps being made and not kept, the subject that gets approached and dropped — is the thing you are actually being paid to notice, and it is exactly what does not survive in a folder of separate documents.

Commitments

What they said they would do, kept honestly

Nod pulls the commitments out of the session as they were stated, with the words used. Next time you open with what was agreed rather than what either of you now remembers being agreed, which is a materially different conversation.

Ask Nod

Prep that takes thirty seconds, not thirty minutes

Ask where you left off and get an answer drawn from that client's sessions only, with the ones it came from. Enough to walk in genuinely prepared for a client you last saw a month ago, without rereading three write-ups first.

What is said in the session stays in it

A coaching conversation is told to you in confidence and often under a written agreement about where it may go. Nod keeps it in your account only, trains nothing on it, and stores no audio at all. Nod captures the audio your Mac is already playing, through native macOS APIs, so nothing dials into the call and nothing shows up in the participant list. Each segment goes through a European proxy to a hosted transcription service under Zero Data Retention, and is discarded the second the text comes back. No audio is stored at either end. Only the transcript and the summary are kept, encrypted at rest in the EU, and nothing is used to train a model. The full detail is on the security page.

  • Nothing joins the call — no participant, no banner
  • No audio stored, at Nod or at the transcription service
  • No model trained on session content, by us or our subprocessors
  • Delete a single session or the whole account from inside the app

Stop choosing between listening and remembering.

Every coach solves this badly: take notes and be half-present, or be present and lose the detail. It is a false choice, and it is the only reason session write-ups eat your evenings.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Nod suitable for therapy or clinical sessions?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. Nod is built for coaching conversations. It is not a clinical record system, we do not sign Business Associate Agreements, and we make no HIPAA claim of any kind — so it should not be used for protected health information or clinical notes. If your work is regulated care, use a system built and certified for it.

  • Will my client know it is running?

Only because you tell them, which you should. Nothing joins the call and no banner appears on their side, so consent is a conversation you have rather than something the software announces. No bot doesn't mean no consent. Recording law varies by country and by state, and some of it asks everyone on the call to agree — so tell people you're taking notes. See recording consent laws.

  • Can I keep each client separate?

Yes. Put each client's sessions in their own folder and scope Ask Nod to it, so one client's question is never answered from another's sessions. That is a Pro feature — see pricing.

  • Does it work for in-person sessions?

Yes. Nod can capture your Mac's microphone as well as its system audio, so a session in the room works the same as one over video. It is macOS only.
