Nod vs Littlebird

Nod vs Littlebird

Both products believe the same thing: an assistant is worth more when it already knows your work. The bet is different. Littlebird builds memory from everything you see, on Mac and Windows. Nod builds it from what gets said, on macOS, and adds the screen only when you ask it to.

The two bets

Littlebird's site describes a broad surface: chat over what it has seen, meeting notes, scheduled routines, an on-screen assistant, MCP, and integrations across the apps your work lives in. If you want one assistant sitting over your entire day, that is the pitch.

Nod starts from conversations, which is the material most likely to hold a commitment nobody wrote down. Screen context is a switch you turn on, not the foundation.

Where Littlebird is the better answer

If you are on Windows, Nod is not an option at all. If you want the assistant to reach across email, chat and documents through first-party integrations, their surface is wider than ours today: our only shipped connectors are read-only ChatGPT and Claude, and the rest of the logos on our integrations card are requests rather than promises.

If a formal certification is a procurement requirement, check what each of us actually holds. Nod is operated by an individual and makes no SOC 2 claim.

Where Nod is the better answer

When conversations are the thing you keep losing. Nod is built end to end around the call: no bot in the participant list, speaker labels worked out on your Mac, summaries and action items, and one memory you can question with the sessions cited.

When you want less recorded, not more. Nod's default is conversations only. Screen reading is off until you turn it on, and then it is one focused window, as text, with a blocklist checked before anything is read.

When storage location and audio retention matter: nothing is kept as audio, transcripts and summaries are encrypted at rest in the EU, and no model is trained on your material.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does Nod read my whole screen the way Littlebird does?

No, and not by default. Ambient context is off until you switch it on. When it is on, Nod reads the text of the window you are focused on, never screenshots, checks your blocklist before reading, and expires entries on a clock you set. See ambient context.

  • Is there a Windows version of Nod?

No. Capture uses native macOS APIs, so Nod is macOS only. If your team is on Windows today, that decides it.

  • Does Nod have scheduled routines?

Beats, our version of a saved question that runs on a schedule, arrive in the next release. See Beats for what they do — the page marks clearly that it is not in the build you would download today.
