What each one actually knows
ChatGPT starts every conversation from nothing about your week. That is not a flaw, it is the design: it is a general model you brief. If you paste a transcript in, it will summarise it well.
Nod's answers come from sessions it captured on your Mac, and it cites which ones. It cannot help you write a poem or debug a regex. It can tell you what you promised the customer in May.

Nod's built ChatGPT connector is read-only and scoped to meetings. After directory approval and installation, a user can ask questions that need both halves: a call last Tuesday and the other context in the chat. The connector can read summaries and transcripts and cannot change anything in Nod.

When ChatGPT alone is the right call
If you do not need a record of your conversations, you do not need Nod. Someone who takes two calls a month and writes their own notes is well served by pasting a transcript into ChatGPT when they need one summarised.
Nod earns its place when the number of conversations passes what you can hold in your head, and when the question you want to ask spans several of them.
Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT record my meeting?
No. ChatGPT does not capture Nod's Mac audio or join calls. Nod captures the meeting without a participant bot. Its read-only ChatGPT connector is built to make summaries and transcripts askable after public directory approval and user authorization.
Does the connector give ChatGPT access to everything?
After public installation opens, the scope is read-only access to meeting summaries and transcripts. It cannot write, delete, or change anything, and a user can revoke the grant from authorized apps.
Do I need ChatGPT Plus?
Check OpenAI's current plan requirements for connectors — that is their side and it changes. Nod's own Ask works on its own, without any ChatGPT subscription.
