What each one actually knows
A general assistant knows the chats you have had with it, plus whatever you connect or paste in. That is a lot, and for most writing and reasoning it is the better tool.
Nod's answers come from the conversations it captured on your Mac, and every answer names the session it came from. It will not write your landing page. It will tell you what you promised the customer in May.

When you don't need Nod
If you do not need a record of your conversations, you do not need Nod. Someone who takes two calls a month and writes their own notes is well served by pasting a transcript into a general assistant when they need one summarised.
Nod earns its place when the number of conversations passes what you can hold in your head, and when the question you want to ask spans several of them.

Can ChatGPT record my meeting?
Yes. ChatGPT for Mac has Record mode, and each recording becomes its own chat. Nod keeps every conversation in one memory, tracks what was promised, and runs Agents on a schedule.
Why use Nod if ChatGPT or Claude already remembers my chats?
They remember what you wrote to them. Nod remembers what was said on your calls, including what nobody wrote down, and shows the session each answer came from.
Is my data used to train a model?
Not by Nod and not by our subprocessors. For ChatGPT and Claude, check the data settings in your account.
