Where the two actually differ
On the headline privacy questions these two agree, which makes the remaining differences the whole decision. Jamie details reflect public documentation; verify current specifics on their pages.

The in-meeting difference
Most note takers are designed around what you read afterwards, and we found no live in-call assistant on Jamie's public pages. Nod also works while the conversation is happening: you can ask it something mid-call and get an answer from what's already been said and from your earlier meetings, without leaving the call or scrolling a transcript. On a discovery call or an interview, that's the difference between remembering the follow-up question and reading about it later.
Recall across everything, not one meeting at a time
"Ask Nod" searches semantically across your whole history — every call, in 35 languages, answering in the language you ask. "What did we agree on pricing with that agency in spring?" is a question about your history, not about a single transcript, and it's the reason a meeting tool becomes a memory rather than a filing cabinet. Capture is local on your Mac; transcription isn't. Each audio segment is sent through a European proxy to hosted transcription, and Nod discards it when the text returns. No model trains on the data. Groq may retain transient error or abuse logs for up to 30 days unless Zero Data Retention is enabled. Only the transcript and summary are saved by Nod, encrypted at rest in the EU (AWS eu-west-1). See the security page.
Where Jamie still wins
Platforms and languages, plainly. Jamie runs beyond macOS and covers far more languages than Nod's 35. It also has a free tier, which Nod doesn't. If you're on Windows, or your week runs across many languages, Jamie is the better tool and we'd rather say so than sell you the wrong thing.
The row-by-row version is on Nod vs Jamie, and the full write-up, including where Jamie is stronger, is in our Jamie alternatives comparison. Jamie details were checked against its public pages on 17 September 2026.
Try it side by side
Both have trials, so run them on the same week of calls. Nod is free for 14 days with no card, then $12–$24 a month billed annually (pricing). Download Nod for Mac.
Frequently asked questions
Is Nod cheaper than Jamie?
On annual billing, yes as commonly documented: Nod works out to $12–$24 a month, against Jamie's paid plans documented around €21–€39 a month. Verify current pricing on both sides — ours is on the pricing page.
Is Jamie or Nod better for privacy?
They're close, which is unusual in this category — both are bot-free and both delete the audio after transcribing. Nod's specifics: no audio file is ever written, only the transcript and summary are stored, encrypted with AES-256 in the EU (AWS eu-west-1) under per-user Row-Level Security, with no model training anywhere in the chain.
Does Jamie work on Mac and Windows?
Jamie runs on desktop beyond macOS, which is its clear advantage over Nod — Nod is macOS only. If you or your team are on Windows, Jamie is the right pick.
Can Nod answer questions during the meeting?
Yes. "Ask Nod" works live, drawing on what has already been said in the call and on your earlier meetings, so you can get an answer without leaving the conversation. Most note takers are built primarily around the post-meeting recap, and we found no live in-call assistant on Jamie's public pages as of September 2026.
