How do I convert a Zoom transcript to Word?

Download the Audio Transcript (.vtt) from your Zoom cloud recording, drop it into the box at the top of this page, and choose Download .docx. Is my transcript uploaded anywhere?

What the converter does

Meeting apps export transcripts as caption files. A caption file is built for a video player: a numbered cue every few seconds, a start and end time on each, and a sentence chopped wherever the player needed a line break. Open one in Word and you get hundreds of fragments.

Removes cue numbers and timestamps, or keeps a single timestamp at the start of each speaker's turn if you need to find the moment again.
Joins each speaker's consecutive lines into one paragraph, so a two-minute answer reads as a paragraph instead of forty captions.
Keeps speaker names from Zoom's Name: text lines, Teams' voice tags and Teams' Word export, and lets you rename or anonymise them before you share the document.

Which files it reads

Anything else in WebVTT or SubRip format — .vtt and .srt files from other recorders and captioning tools.

Why it runs in your browser

A meeting transcript is a record of what people said, often about customers, candidates or colleagues. Most online converters upload the file to a server to process it. This one doesn't: the page parses the text with JavaScript on your own machine, and there is no request that carries your transcript anywhere. You can load the page, disconnect from the internet, and it still works.

Skip the file altogether

If you clean up transcripts every week, the file is the problem.
